As the largest water operator in Malaysia, they strive to provide the highest attainable service standards to consumers by providing a safe, accessible, and affordable water supply. The water authority kept these goals insight as it has made strategic moves forward for its customers as they aspire to become a digital water utility of the future.
INDUSTRY

Risks

  • Insufficient data on water network behavior
  • Unforeseen alert
  • No real-time simulation

Since the journey began in 2008, one of the biggest water treatment plants in Malaysia is now treating & distributing water to approximately 8.4 million consumers in the central zone of Malaysia. Their main goal is to embrace digitalisation and use cutting-edge technology to serve their customers better.

With the large operation, the water authority kept these goals as it has made a strategic move forward to improve their current water system. They are facing:

  • Insufficient data on water network behavior (water flow & water pressure)
  • Unforeseen alert on water treatment plant equipment
  • Without real-time simulation for maintenance work
  • Without real-time reports to trigger operators’ action before any unforeseen circumstances.

After understanding their problems, our engineers has converted the problems into solutions by implementing with AVEVA System Platform & Water Network Management.

The first step was to transit to a fully automated system. A platform that is able to provide a full suite of solution, with real-time diagnostics, operators are able to monitor the quality of the water treatment process and track the aging of the water network to detect malfunction equipment to prevent water loss such as pipe burst cases. The new solution has enabled a proactive & predictive system to monitor and analyze critical issues of the water network with clear visibility to control the whole water treatment plant network and water network diagram.

The real-time and historical systems now allow our client to control and monitor their water treatment plant production effectively. The allocation would be utilized to improve assets’ reliability and resilience, as well as operational efficiency. The system brings them operational efficiency:

  • Aware of the any issue /problem is raised.
  • More effective on coordination & communication when issues are raised.
  • Effective decision-making with accurate data to support.
  • Maintenance and scenario planning efficiently.
  • Dashboard for asset performance and availability.
