ALERT ! Incompatibility with Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803)

Dear Customer,

AVEVA Group PLC has identified incompatibility within the Sentinel USB licensing mechanism of Citect SCADA and Vijeo Citect software (all supported versions). After upgrading to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803), USB dongle licenses are not being correctly detected, resulting in the run time environment launching in Demo Mode.

They have conveyed the issue on behalf of the impacted customers and are actively working with it on a timely resolution.

The current advice for all Citect SCADA / Vijeo Citect customers is to avoid an upgrade of their Windows 10 Operating System to the April 2018 Update build 1803, until this issue is resolved.

While work is ongoing to formally rectify the incompatibility issue within the Sentinel USB Licensing mechanism, AVEVA Group PLC have validated a work-around that can be implemented by affected customers in the interim. Further information regarding updates/patch to rectify this issue will be published as soon as they are available.

The Citect32.exe program can be configured to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8, which has been validated to resolve this issue for the below product releases:

  1.  Citect SCADA 2016
  2.  Citect SCADA 2016 May 11th 2018 Update
  3.  Citect SCADA 2015 SP1
  4.  Citect SCADA 2015 SP1 Patch 29
  5.  Vijeo Citect 2015 SP1
  6.  Vijeo Citect 2015 SP1 Patch 29

Compatibility Mode is expected to work for all other Updates/ Patch for the above versions, but Schneider Electric have not been able to test every combination. It is only available within the Compatibility tab of the Properties dialog ( see image below) for Citect32.exe. Depending on your configuration, it may be necessary to use the Change settings for all users option at the bottom of the dialog box.

CTI Resources & Schneider Electric at ASIAWATER 2018: Smart Water Solution Towards a More Sustainable Future

This coming April, CTI Resources once again collaborate with Schneider Electric to participate at the upcoming ASIAWATER 2018, booth B504 on 10, 11 & 12 April 2018 at Kuala Lumpur Conventional Centre (KLCC).

 

This year, the theme for this event is Smart Water Solution Towards a More Sustainable Future. In line with this theme, we will be sharing technology, software, and solutions that could assist you on mobility, visibility of dynamic graphical reports for real-time viewing and assist on digital optimization.

 

It will be a highly interactive and informational booth highlights the features LIVE demo of IIoT enabled Smart Water solutions, LIVE demo on assets monitoring, hands-on experience on data mobility, and other available water solutions from software portfolio. You will discover solutions on beyond SCADA for Water and Waste Water as well as Industrial Manufacturing.

 

A sneak peek of the new version of SCADA (Standard Edition) 2018 Powered by Citect will be showing in the booth. This new SCADA (Standard Edition) 2018 version reshapes your operational experience with context-aware workspace and the ASM-based library of symbols. This new upgrade will deliver a lot of valuable features, including workspace and alarm enhancements will be shared at Technology Symposium during the 3rd day, 12 April 2018 on 11:30AM-11:45AM with the topic “Pre-Release Sneak Peek: New Citect 2018 – SCADA (Standard Edition)” by Mr. Long See Wei (Sales Manager). Don’t worry if you couldn’t attend the slot, come and visit our booth, the new version demo will be showing at our booth at B504 too.
